Description
Mark the 190th birthday of Ohio Civil War hero and 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes by experiencing life during the Civil War. More than 500 costumed re-enactors camp on the grounds of the Hayes estate. Soldiers conduct military drills, chat with visitors and re-create an actual Civil War battle on the lawn in front of the Hayes Home. The highlight is a formal, military graveside service on Sunday. President Barack Obama's representatives will be on hand. Veterans, re-enactors, and active-duty personnel also take part in this solemn, moving observance. Discounted tours of Hayes Home and Museum available.
